The Baptism

On June 12 we attended our first grandchild's baptism.  Erick was baptized on his 8th birthday and we had a wonderful time.  I'm so proud of Erick.  He invited his non-member neighbors and friends and many of them came.  The spirit was very strong and I'm sure that they all felt something that day.  His bishop told me that Erick was special--that he had a very special spirit about him when he interviewed him for baptism.  I agree.  Erick is very sensitive to the spirit and spiritual things.  Here are a few pictures of the baptism.

After the baptism we had refreshments while the kids played in the nursery.  Matt liked this part the best.

When we got home, we celebrated the birthday.  Erick seemed to like the homemade birthday card we gave him.

Before going to Oregon for the wedding, I spent many late hours putting together a book for Erick titled "10 Things We Love About Erick".  His face was worth every minute.

Erick also got some new Legos and a Playmobil set.  We all had some fun playing with the toys.  I even helped Erick put together his Star Wars Lego space ship.  I've never done that before and Erick was a great teacher.

We later went to Chuck E Cheese for lunch and some games.  Erick really LOVES games.

On Sunday we had a barbeque and watched the kids catch fireflies.  I really love the humidity, the lush green and the wildlife in St. Louis.  It's like a magical place, a place I used to read about in books.  I never even thought about what it is like to live there.  When I was growing up, all the cartoons have squirrels and rabbits living among the people and I thought it was just made up for the cartoons, but as we sat at Lauras, the squirrels, chipmunks, cardinals and other birds were everywhere.  The tire swing in their front yard is a magical swing because it's so long and hanging from a huge tree.  What a great place they live in!

Thanks Erick (and all the Finlinsons) for a wonderful weekend!
