For years I've dreamed of having a Temple here in Salem. With as busy as the Provo Temple has been lately I've been hoping it would happen soon. Many people recognized President Eyring and President Uchtdorf driving around town a month or so ago. But alas, the temple will be in Payson. Don't get me wrong--I'm THRILLED to have a Temple 5 minutes from my house. But as I laid awake in the middle of the night last night thinking about it, I realized that my disappointment isn't about it being in Payson but about the fact that it will be on the SOUTH end of Payson and I won't be able to see the Temple from my house. For some reason I always envisioned that some day as I came over the hill into Salem I would see a Temple there (besides the Hari Krishna Temple).
I AM excited about the temple and I'm sure that many of my friends in Payson, Spring Lake, Santaquin and West Mountain are thrilled about the location. It will be very visible from the freeway and that will be fun for those who drive that way. Yay!! A temple in Payson! I hope that I will get to be very involved--maybe a tour guide. Maybe one of the first temple workers? What a wonderful blessing this will be for our little corner of the world!
